Striving to create a sustainable society:
Today more than ever, safe environmental practices are needed in order to support smart growth. It has become clear that our environmental resources are not only limited, but are sensitive to most everything we do. For this reason, Valia is committed to incorporating sustainability into our business model and practices. We incorporate vegetable based inks into our packaging, where most inks used today are petroleum-based. The fewer toxic VOC emissions ink emits, the better. Conventional commercial petroleum-based inks measure VOC levels of 25 to 35 percent. Soy-based inks typically measure between two and five percent, while vegetable-based inks typically measure between zero and three percent.
All of our printed materials are made with vegetable ink, which is 100% non-toxic and contains no petroleum. This ink is environmentally friendly, made with a base of non-soy vegetable oils such as canola, corn, linseed (flax), safflower and sunflower.
